What was your original motivation for signing up?
The features that you offered, in particular the continuous backup, and the synchronization. The fact that you also offered off site backup was also important. I had been a user of another hardware/software solution (Mirra) which had continuous backup and synchronization, but no off site storage. I was in the market for a new solution because the hard drive failed on the Mirra after only two years.
Is your use of Tilana Reserve more of a business or personal nature, or both? Please explain.
Both. I operate an Internet Solution (Website design, development, and programming) business from my home office, and therefore have numerous client files related to that work that must be backed up. I also have personal files that need to be backed up.
Have you ever had to call or email for support, and if so what was your experience?
Always positive. Everyone has been friendly and knowledgeable.
How many computers do you have on your account?
Two until a day ago but I'm now adding a third.
Do you use the sync feature? Please tell us about it.
Yes. I sync files between my desktop and laptop, and soon also with a second desktop. It is important that I have my work files with me whenever I work away from my home office (with my laptop). With this feature I never have to worry about which files to take with me when I am on the road.
Do you make use of remotely stored version history? Please tell us about it.
This is one of the most important time saving features. Occasionally I will be working on a project (client) file that can require a certain amount of troubleshooting, often related to how various browsers render a web page. This always involves editing and saving the file for (test) display in (different) browsers many times. Once in a while edits take the file in a direction that proves to be incorrect. With all file versions saved, I simply retrieve the one prior to the most recent series of edits. So instead of starting over, and possibly losing hours, many hours are saved by simply stepping back in time to a particular version.
Have you ever had a case of lost data that was retrievable from Tilana Reserve?
I replaced a data hard drive on my desk top a few months back. Until I replaced the drive, I used my laptop. After replacing the drive, I downloaded all my data from Tilana, including the most recent versions of all files changed (on the laptop) after the drive failure.
Do you have any other general comments about Tilana, the technology or the company?
Thank you for your great product and service.
