Migrate to Vista with Tilana™ Reserve™
-- Tilana Systems Corporation announces seamless file migration between computers running XP and Vista, along with multi-computer file sync, web access, remote archival, and unlimited version history - all free while in beta.
San Diego—Monday, February 26, 2007—Nearing the retail launch of its new file protection and sync service called Tilana Reserve, Tilana Systems Corporation (www.tilana.com) today announced a better path for migrating files from an older computer running Windows XP to a new computer running Windows Vista.
PCs running Windows XP (x32 SP2) can use the Tilana Reserve desktop utility to encrypt and securely transmit all files to a remote personal data center account as a waypoint en route to the new computer running Windows Vista. Any or all of those files can then be automatically transferred onto the new computer by simply installing the same desktop software to securely move those files to the new computer.
Tilana Reserve remains free while still in beta.
“We’re pleased to welcome any new PC owners running Windows Vista to start using Tilana Reserve for free,” said Joe Austin, Tilana CEO. “Migrating from XP to Vista is a perfect use of our technology and service. And it’s the perfect first step for anyone to take in their upgrade to Vista.”
Migrating files to a new computer is a sensitive undertaking, which behooves the user to approach it with the maximum measure of care. One reason is that given the advanced state of Windows Vista operating system, not all applications that ran on XP can yet be expected to run on the new operating system. As a solution, Tilana Reserve provides an automatic file syncing method for generating and updating files on the older computer running XP, and making those files available for use on the newer computer running Vista.
Any files left in the personal remote data center storage will remain archived there for as long as the user chooses to keep them. Files can also continue to automatically sync in the opposite direction back to the older computer still running Windows XP.
Tilana Reserve uses software installed on the desktop to securely transmit files between the user’s protected PCs and personal remote storage space. After initial upload of protected files, the software sends only changes to files as they’re saved, along with any new files as they appear in protected folders on the user’s computer. Files deleted from a protected computer remain archived in the Tilana Reserve data center until manually deleted by the account holder.
Changes to protected files are stored in the user’s personal remote storage for as long as needed, and made immediately available through a version history palette in the desktop software control panel, or through the new Internet Explorer interface, which can be securely used from any PC.
Users can choose to enable an unlimited number of computers with the free software, and then selectively protect and/or synchronize files and folders on those computers via their personal remote storage space.
Changes to files and folders on any of the computers configured to sync will automatically update on the other computers configured to use the same Tilana Reserve account. Even files deleted from one machine can be automatically deleted from another, while archived permanently and securely in the customer’s personal off-site Tilana Reserve data center space.
The Tilana Reserve desktop software is a free download, installs in about a minute and requires little if any configuration.

The company’s first offering, Tilana Reserve, uses delta versioning technology that detects changes to files and only transfers modified data unobtrusively without user interaction. Empowered with much more than simple “backup and restore,” users can access any previously saved version of a protected file, whether still stored on the protected PC or not, from any other PC on the Internet where the desktop software can be installed to run automatically, or from anywhere the user can manually retrieve their files using Internet Explorer.
