Tilana™ Reserve™:
High Profile Beta Users Weigh In
-- New SMB and consumer targeted file protection and sync service gets endorsements from high profile industry figures
San Diego - Monday, February 19, 2007 - The Beta era for Tilana Reserve continues to wind to a successful close, now during the sixth month of testing for the new online file protection and sync service from Tilana Systems Corporation (www.tilana.com). Feedback from the beta community has been incorporated into this latest version, which is now receiving noteworthy praise from some high-profile testers.
Brad Feld, Managing Director at Mobius Venture Capital, says Tilana Reserve is “…awesome desktop data synchronization software bundled with a service that I think is a breakthrough in this arena. It's remarkably simple to use and does exactly what you'd expect it to do.”
“...Quick app to download, easy to install, brainless to configure, and it’s off to the races,” said John Zdanowski, CFO for Linden Lab, creators of the Second Life virtual world.
Pricing for the new service has not yet been released. Use of Tilana Reserve will remain free as a beta but the company says that beta testing of the service is nearly complete, with its new Internet Explorer web access nearly ready.
“We’re right on track with our projected timeline, and about ready to come to market with a finished Tilana Reserve,” said Joe Austin, Tilana CEO. “The time has come for SMB and PC users to experience the benefits of enterprise-class data protection, synchronization, and access.”
Tilana Reserve uses software installed on the desktop to securely transmit files between the user’s protected PCs and personal remote storage space. After initial upload of protected files, the software sends only changes to files as they’re saved, along with any new files as they appear in protected folders on the user’s computer. Files deleted from a protected computer remain archived in the Tilana Reserve data center until manually deleted by the account holder.
Changes to protected files are stored in the user’s personal remote storage for as long as needed, and made immediately available through a version history palette in the desktop software control panel, or through the new Internet Explorer interface, which can be securely used from any PC.
Users can choose to enable an unlimited number of computers with the free software, and then selectively protect and/or synchronize files and folders on those computers via their personal remote storage space.
Changes to files and folders on any of the computers configured to sync will automatically update on the other computers configured to use the same Tilana Reserve account. Even files deleted from one machine can be automatically deleted from another, while archived permanently and securely in the customer’s personal off-site Tilana Reserve data center space.
The Tilana Reserve desktop software is a free download, installs in about a minute and requires little if any configuration.
About Tilana Systems Corporation
San Diego based Tilana Systems Corporation makes online storage useful, by combining continuous data protection, permanent archival, Web access, version history, and multi-computer synchronization into one affordable service.
The company’s first offering, Tilana Reserve, uses delta versioning technology that detects changes to files and only transfers modified data unobtrusively without user interaction. Empowered with much more than simple “backup and restore,” users can access any previously saved version of a protected file, whether still stored on the protected PC or not, from any other PC on the Internet where the desktop software can be installed to run automatically, or from anywhere the user can manually retrieve their files using Internet Explorer.
